Founded in 2014, Groove Journey is a duo : Caroline Zaini and Sam Camelia. The only two of us do « home-made electro pop », everything is home-made : lyrics, compositions, recordings, videos, and live broadcast from home through facebook live and Youtube.
Now a little story to tell… we started everything in 2015 with covers of latin songs (Joao Gilberto, Sergio Mendès, Djavan, …), then our repertoire started to flirt with Pop et Electronic music (Daft Punk, Radiohead, Massive Attack, The Rapture, Asgeir, ..). With these covers we made around 30 gigs with several setups (Vocals, Drums+Guitar / Vocals, Bass Guitar+Guitar+loops / Vocals+Guitar+loops …) in small concert venues, restaurants, bars, but also private venues, marriage parties, taking with us electronic looping machines. We had a lot of fun in interpreting all these titles and trying to use these little machines which are surrounding us today in our compositions.
Caroline Zaini was born in France has also italian and indonesian origins. She starts playing music at french Conservatoire and today she plays several instruments : drums, vocals, bass guitar, piano, trumpet… As a former architect when she joined her school’s band she gets addicted to percussive instruments, notably the drums. After several projects, Caroline meets Sam’s path in 2014, then they launched Groove Journey project.
Sam Camelia was born in Paris. He’s a former consultant at EY, in the banking sector. Sam’s guitar playing comes mainly from hard rock and blues. He started playing the guitar in a Led Zeppelin cover band (Moby Dick Tribute To Led Zeppelin). Sam also attended to Jazz courses in a music school which opened his playing to jazz and latin music.
